Knife Attack in Ghana: Woman Stabs Husband Over Soup Dispute
Ghana has witnessed an increase in domestic altercations involving knives this year, with over 300 incidents reported. Many of these disputes stem from arguments over money or food. In the latest incident, a 21-year-old woman, Maafua, stabbed her 29-year-old husband, Kofi, over a disagreement about what kind of soup to cook.
The argument began when Kofi provided Maafua with money to prepare a meat stew. However, she found the amount insufficient and decided to make vegetable soup instead. The disagreement escalated, leading to Maafua using a knife to stab Kofi. Kofi is currently in critical condition at the hospital with severe chest wounds and significant blood loss. Police are investigating the incident, exploring whether Maafua acted in self-defense.
This incident underscores the persistent issue of domestic violence in Ghana, with knives being a common weapon in such disputes. Authorities are urging anyone affected by domestic violence to seek help from the Ghana Police Service or the Department of Social Welfare.
