Kolyma Residents Share Their Stories in Powerful Photo Exhibition

A photo exhibition titled 'What does it mean to live on the Kolyma?' is currently open at the cultural-exhibition center 'Rynka'. The exhibition, featuring 23 photographs and interviews from the book '42 interviews about life and death in the Far East', offers visitors a unique insight into the lives of Kolyma residents.

The exhibition, which runs until October 19, is the result of a project by Dmitry Andreyev and Arseny Garipov. They conducted interviews with 105 influential figures who shape the development and atmosphere of the Kolyma region. Each photograph on display is accompanied by information about the subject and quotes from their interviews.

The opening event was attended by local dignitaries, including Magadan residents and parliamentarians such as Anatoly Shirokov, Petr Golubovsky, and Igor Rozhinov. The event also saw the presentation of the third and final book in the series, '34 interviews about life and death in the Far East'.

Visitors to the exhibition can expect to gain a deeper understanding of life on the Kolyma through the personal interpretations and experiences shared by its residents. The exhibition is a testament to the unique culture and history of the region, as told by those who know it best.
