Komi Celebrates Disability Inclusion with Sport and Art Initiatives
Two major events marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities at the House of Peoples’ Friendship. The central programme of the Sport Without Borders 2025 forum launched alongside the opening of the Focus on LIFE photo exhibition. Both initiatives aim to highlight inclusion and the lives of people with disabilities in the Republic of Komi.
The Sport Without Borders 2025 forum kicked off with a series of activities at the Maksakovka Social Rehabilitation Center. Participants took part in master classes, training sessions, and roundtables, all designed to promote regular physical activity and sports for people with disabilities. Deputy Chair of the Government, Natalia Yakimova, welcomed attendees and stressed the forum’s role in fostering engagement through education and competition.
The events brought together officials, organisers, and participants to celebrate and support people with disabilities. The forum continues to encourage sports participation, while the exhibition provides a platform for their stories. Both initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to improve visibility and opportunities in the region.
