Komi Republic expands unprecedented support for veterans and their families in 2024
The Republic of Komi has stepped up its support for veterans and participants of the special military operation (SMO) this year, marking the 80th anniversary of Victory. Several initiatives have been implemented to honour and assist those who served and their families.
In celebration of the 80th anniversary, the republic provided Great Patriotic War veterans with financial assistance for home repairs, up to 100,000 rubles. A commemorative event was held at the Maksakovka Republican Social Rehabilitation Center, attended by 100 veterans.
The Coordination Center in Komi has demonstrated exceptional efficiency, resolving 99% of the 6,600 appeals received from SMO participants and their families since its establishment in 2022. The republic currently offers 43 support measures for SMO participants and their families, including financial assistance and benefits. This comprehensive assistance covers medical care, social and domestic challenges, home gasification, and other areas. The support measures will continue in the republic until 2026.
To honour the anniversary, Komi increased one-time payments to disabled veterans, frontline workers, former concentration camp prisoners, and children of war. The State Council of Komi maintains close cooperation with the regional branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation and the Standing Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Healthcare, Physical Culture, and Sports.
The Republic of Komi's commitment to supporting veterans and SMO participants is evident in its numerous initiatives and cooperation with relevant organisations. The republic has established over fifty support measures, demonstrating its dedication to honoring and assisting those who have served and their families.
