Komi resident wins landmark case over unpaid military social support

A local resident in the Kortkeros District of the Komi Republic has won a legal battle against the regional Social Security Center. The dispute centered on unpaid financial support owed to the resident after their military deployment. The Kortkeros District Court ruled entirely in favor of the prosecutor’s claims, ensuring the complainant received their due payments.

The case began when the resident, who had signed a two-year military service contract in June 2023, was deployed to the special military operation zone. Under regional regulations, they were entitled to two one-time social support payments of 150,000 rubles each—without needing to submit an application.

The ruling ensures the complainant will now receive the outstanding 150,000-ruble payment. The case also sets a precedent for similar disputes in the region, clarifying the obligations of the Social Protection Center. Military personnel deployed under contract will no longer face unnecessary barriers to accessing their entitled support.
