Komi Veterans Team Heads to Steel Will Competition
The Republic of Komi has sent a team of seven veterans to compete in the all-Russian inclusive sports competition, Steel Will. Led by Valentina Ditts, head of the regional branch of the state fund Defenders of the Fatherland, the team aims to showcase their resilience and athletic prowess.
The Steel Will competition, one of Russia's largest events for athletes with disabilities and limited mobility, will see over 700 athletes from 25 regions competing in seven disciplines. The Komi team, prepared under the guidance of an experienced coach and with support from local sports organizations, will participate in a special League of Heroes football tournament for veterans with limb amputations.
The state fund Defenders of the Fatherland, led by State Secretary and Deputy Defense Minister Anna Tsivileva, provides personalized assistance to veterans of the special military operation and their families. Its primary mission is to support these veterans and the families of fallen heroes, offering help with medical and social rehabilitation, retraining, employment, legal support, and adapting housing for disabled individuals.
The team from the Republic of Komi, departing with wishes of confidence and strong results from Valentina Ditts, seeks to make the region proud at the Steel Will competition. The event offers a platform for veterans to showcase their abilities and fosters a sense of community among participants.
