Korean Air and Boeing collaborate on predictive maintenance analysis within the Asia-Pacific region
Korean Air, one of the world's leading airlines, has announced a strategic collaboration with Boeing, the renowned aircraft manufacturer, to integrate additional technologies and define next-generation best practices for maintenance operations. This partnership aims to strengthen aircraft reliability, maintenance efficiency, and operational safety.
At the helm of this collaboration is Chan Woo Jung, Senior Vice President & Head of Maintenance and Engineering at Korean Air. Jung and his team have already gained significant experience in predictive maintenance, having established Korean Air's own predictive maintenance team in August 2023. This team uses internally developed operational solutions for condition monitoring of aircraft components.
Under the partnership, Boeing will analyse operational data and utilise real-time sensor information to optimise maintenance planning. The goal is to apply these improvements across Korean Air's operations, enhancing data collection and reporting processes.
Crystal Remfert, senior director of digital services at Boeing Global Services, expressed her enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it is united by a shared mission to leverage predictive maintenance analytics for improved efficiency and fleet reliability.
The projects undertaken as part of this collaboration will focus on Korean Air's expanding fleet. Boeing Global Services values Korean Air's commitment to this mutually beneficial collaboration, with Remfert adding that the company looks forward to working closely with Korean Air to ensure a ready and reliable fleet, promoting operational excellence.
This collaboration was officially announced during the Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific 2025 event in Singapore. Korean Air's partnership with Boeing is a key step in enhancing maintenance operations as they continue to expand their fleet. The companies remain focused on ensuring a ready and reliable fleet, promoting operational excellence.
