Korean Air joins forces with Boeing on advanced analytical solutions for predictive aircraft maintenance in the Asia-Pacific region.

Korean Air, a prominent player in the aviation industry, has partnered with Boeing, a global leader in aerospace technology. This collaboration, announced at the Aviation Week MRO Asia-Pacific 2025 event in Singapore, aims to enhance Korean Air's fleet maintenance and reliability.

The focus of the collaboration is on predictive maintenance, a critical aspect of fleet management. Chan Woo Jung, senior vice president and head of maintenance at Korean Air, highlighted the airline's progress in this area through its Smart MRO strategy and predictive maintenance.

Under this partnership, Boeing will analyze operational data and provide recommendations for refining predictive maintenance. The collaboration seeks to integrate additional technologies and define next-generation best practices in predictive maintenance.

The projects also aim to improve access to aircraft data, enhance data collection and reporting processes, and apply real-time sensor information to optimize maintenance planning. Crystal Remfert, senior director of digital services at Boeing Global Services, emphasized the shared goal between the two companies to leverage predictive maintenance for improved efficiency and fleet reliability.

Boeing Global Services values Korean Air's commitment to this mutually beneficial collaboration. The partnership is intended for Korean Air's expanding fleet and is seen as key to enhancing Korean Air's maintenance operations as the airline continues to grow.

The partnership between Korean Air and Boeing is not limited by specific duration or financial aspects, as per the initial announcement. However, Korean Air's predictive maintenance team will work closely with Boeing on various projects, with Kim Jong-hyun, the head of the Maintenance Department at Korean Air, leading the charge in improving predictive maintenance methods.

The strategic collaboration between Korean Air and Boeing is intended to build on their respective successes and take Korean Air's capabilities to the next level. The partnership remains focused on ensuring a ready and reliable fleet, promoting Korean Air's commitment to operational excellence. The collaboration aims to strengthen aircraft reliability, maintenance efficiency, and operational safety, marking a significant step forward for both companies.
