Krasnodar Krai protects 19th-century Cossack landmark as cultural heritage
A historic building in Krasnodar Krai has received official protection as a cultural landmark. The 'House of the Stanitsa Administration' in Ilsky settlement now appears on Russia's Unified State Register of Cultural Heritage Sites. This follows a state assessment confirming its architectural and historical importance.
The two-part structure, linked by a shared interior layout, blends Eclectic design in one section. Its newly granted status as a regional architectural monument ensures the preservation of its original appearance. Official records now define its territorial boundaries and permitted uses.
Over the past three years, Krasnodar Krai has added more than 180 historic buildings to its heritage list. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev has repeatedly stressed the need to protect Cossack and urban landscapes across the region. Meanwhile, the Ilsky building continues to serve the community, currently housing a children's art school.
Separately, land for new gymnastics centres is being allocated in eight municipalities. No individual has been publicly named in connection with these registrations as of January 2026.
The designation secures the building's future while maintaining its role in local education. Its inclusion in the heritage register reflects broader efforts to safeguard Krasnodar Krai's historic architecture. Officials have documented all restrictions and preservation requirements in regional records.
