Krasnodar’s farmers defy weather to deliver historic harvests in 2025
Russia’s agricultural sector has defied challenging weather to achieve near-record harvests in 2025. In the Krasnodar Territory alone, farmers gathered millions of tons of grains, oilseeds and rice, while also setting new benchmarks for fruit and grape production. The region’s success comes alongside nationwide gains, with grain reserves now topping 145 million tons—one of the highest levels in modern history.
Krasnodar Territory, often called the Kuban region, reported exceptional yields this year. Farmers collected 11.2 million tons of grains and legumes, 980,000 tons of oilseeds, and 830,000 tons of rice. Sugar beet production reached 6.6 million tons, while a record 313,000 tons of grapes were harvested—enough to increase local wine output by 5%.
The strong harvests position Krasnodar Territory as a key contributor to Russia’s food security. With grain reserves at historic highs and winter planting complete, the region’s farmers are now preparing for another productive year. The 5% rise in wine production further highlights how improved yields are benefiting multiple sectors.
