Krasnoyarsk Honors WWII Hero Nikolai Snoopkov as Honorary Citizen at 97
Krasnoyarsk has honored the late Nikolai Snoopkov, who passed away in February at the age of 97, with the title 'Honorary Citizen'. The mayor carried out the conferment.
Snoopkov was born in Lobino, Novosibirsk Region, in 1925. After seven years of schooling, he worked at a railway depot. In 1943, he was sent to the front, serving as a rifleman and later as a scout.
During his service, Snoopkov demonstrated extraordinary bravery. He single-handedly eliminated six Nazi soldiers and captured three as prisoners. For his valor, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War (Second Class), and the Zhukov Medal.
After the war, Snoopkov returned home and lived a healthy lifestyle, free of harmful habits. He shared 64 years of marriage with his wife, raising three children, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Krasnoyarsk remembers Nikolai Snoopkov as an honorary citizen who served his country bravely and lived a long, fulfilling life. His legacy continues through his family.
