Kristy Augustin newly elected to CDU's federal board - Kristy Augustin secures historic CDU federal executive seat in 2026
Kristy Augustin has won a seat on the CDU's federal executive committee for the first time. The Brandenburg politician secured 695 votes at the party's recent congress. This marks her first successful bid after missing out in 2021.
Augustin, an expert in education policy, earned her place with a strong majority. She needed at least 453 votes out of 905 cast and exceeded that threshold comfortably. Her election follows the departure of Brandenburg's former representative, Jan Redmann, who chose not to run again.
The recent vote took place at the CDU's 38th party congress in Stuttgart, held from 20 to 21 February 2026. While no major structural changes to the federal board were announced, Augustin's addition expands its membership. Her previous attempt in 2021 fell short, making this victory a notable step in her political career.
Augustin now holds a position on the CDU's top federal body. Her background in education policy and regional experience in Brandenburg will contribute to the committee's work. The party has not yet released further details on any broader shifts in the board's composition.
