Kuwait Backs Saudi's Tourism Initiatives, Endorses UNWTO Candidate
Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, Kuwait's Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs, chaired a virtual zoom meeting of GCC tourism ministers. He conveyed greetings from Kuwait's highest leaders and commended Bahrain's hosting of the 'Gulf Gateway' forum, highlighting its role in promoting dialogue and cooperation.
Al-Mutairi praised Saudi Arabia's upcoming hosting of the 26th UNWTO General Assembly, themed 'AI-Powered Tourism: Redefining the Future'. He expressed Kuwait's full confidence in Saudi Arabia's success and support for the Riyadh Declaration on the Future of Tourism. The meeting underscored the importance Gulf leaders place on tourism as a key pillar of economic and social development.
Al-Mutairi stressed the significance of Gulf tourism integration, stating it as the optimal route to maximize shared resources and enhance the region's global position. He also lauded the GCC countries' outstanding participation in Expo Osaka 2025 and wished Saudi Arabia success in organizing Expo Riyadh 2030.
Kuwait supports the candidacy of Sheikha Al-Nuwais, an Emirates-born diplomat and the Secretary-General designate of the UNWTO, for the 2026-2029 term. Al-Mutairi emphasized the importance of the zoom meeting in strengthening joint Gulf cooperation and advancing tourism efforts.
