Kuwait Reaffirms Commitment to Combating Crimes Against Humanity at UN
Kuwait has reaffirmed its commitment to international law, humanitarian principles, and human rights, stressing the importance of combating crimes against humanity. The nation's representative, Abdullah al-Jahja, addressed the Sixth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly on this pressing issue.
Kuwait rejects all forms of crimes against humanity, regardless of their origin or perpetrator. The country believes that the United Nations and its agencies play a crucial role in confronting and combating these heinous acts. Kuwait has called for united regional and international efforts to protect civilians and uphold human rights.
The Kuwaiti representative, Abdullah al-Jahja, delivered a statement on this matter before the Sixth Committee. He emphasised that adherence to international humanitarian law is vital for achieving justice and maintaining global peace. Kuwait has welcomed the adoption of Resolution 79/122, which focuses on the prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity.
Crimes against humanity, such as deliberate killing, genocide, forced displacement, and torture, pose a severe threat to international peace and security. Kuwait underscores that the right to life and dignity is a fundamental human right that must be protected. The nation is committed to working with the international community to ensure the preservation of human dignity and the prevention of such crimes.
