Kuwaiti court rejects Agility's appeal over Sulaibiya project termination
A Kuwaiti court has rejected Agility's legal challenge over the Sulaibiya expansion project. The ruling upholds the termination of a major contract, though the company insists the decision will not affect its finances or operations. Agility has already announced plans to appeal the verdict.
The dispute centres on Contract No. 211, part of the Sulaibiya Expansion Project. Agility filed a lawsuit to keep the agreement in place, but the Kuwait Court of First Instance ruled against the company. The decision, issued in late 2024, sided with the opposing claimant—reportedly Acciona or a partner—leading to the project's suspension.
The Kuwaiti government and other involved parties halted further work by March 2026. Negotiations since then have remained stalled, with no public updates on settlements or appeals. Agility maintains that, despite the setback, the ruling does not disrupt its current operations or financial stability.
The court's rejection of Agility's claim leaves the Sulaibiya project in limbo. With an appeal now underway, the company continues to operate as usual. The outcome of the legal challenge will determine whether the expansion plans can resume or remain frozen.
