Kuwait's Crown Prince reviews military readiness amid rising regional threats

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah visited Kuwait's Ministry of Defense this week. The trip comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent attacks on Kuwait International Airport. During the visit, he reviewed the military's readiness and response measures with senior defence officials.

Upon arrival, the Crown Prince was welcomed by the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff. He was accompanied by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

The Crown Prince received a detailed briefing on the latest operational reports. Officials outlined defensive strategies to secure Kuwait's airspace and strengthen national stability. The discussions also covered the military's response to recent drone and rocket strikes on the airport in late February 2026.

His Highness conveyed greetings from His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. He praised the dedication of Kuwait's military personnel, calling their efforts a reflection of loyalty to the nation and its leadership. The Crown Prince also acknowledged the Ministry's work in maintaining high readiness during regional instability.

The visit follows a sharp decline in Kuwait's security situation. Unlike past crises, the country has faced direct threats, including airport closures, flight cancellations, and new travel warnings from Germany and Australia for the Gulf region. These developments coincide with US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Before concluding his visit, the Crown Prince prayed for Kuwait's ongoing security, safety, and prosperity. The Armed Forces continue to implement measures aimed at protecting the nation's stability. The briefing highlighted the military's focus on countering emerging threats in a volatile regional environment.
