Lamerdingen Transforms Fire Station into Eco-Friendly Depot Amid Climate Push

The local council has given the green light to an ambitious project to convert the Lamerdingen fire station into a municipal works depot. The unanimous approval comes as part of a wider effort to adapt to climate change and manage the town's finances.

The conversion will involve structural modifications, including a single-story extension of 13 by 4 meters on the east side. This new space will house an office, a break room, and changing facilities with toilets and showers, improving the functionality of the building.

The council also decided to participate in the 'Sponge Region' initiative. This project aims to promote water retention and sustainable land use, helping the town adapt to climate change.

The 2024 annual financial statement reveals a total budget of roughly €7.2 million, with total assets around €8 million. The outstanding loan debt stands at €1 million. The municipality's general reserves amount to approximately €2 million.

In other news, the Almenrausch Großkitzighofen marksmen’s association received a subsidy to modernize stage lighting in their clubhouse. The €2,800 grant covers one-third of the total costs for replacing the 30-year-old system with LED spotlights. The MFJ Lamerdingen support association was also recognized as worthy of support and added to the town’s list of eligible organizations for municipal grants.

The fire station conversion, along with the 'Sponge Region' initiative, demonstrates the council's commitment to sustainable development and climate adaptation. The town's financial health is stable, with reserves in place to support such projects. The subsidy for the marksmen’s association and recognition of the MFJ Lamerdingen support association show the council's support for local community initiatives.
