Landshut invites residents to shape the 2026 city budget with their ideas
Landshut's municipal budget process is open for resident participation. Ideas are invited for the 2026 budget, with submissions accepted until June 30. Recent initiatives saw several citizen ideas funded and implemented in the 2025 budget. Meanwhile, plans are under review for an inner-city parking garage expansion.
Residents can submit ideas online at www.ourwebsite/budgetconsultations or in writing to the Finance Department. These ideas will be reviewed by city departments and presented to the Budget Committee for approval. If approved, funding will be allocated in the 2026 budget.
Among the reviewed plans is the expansion of an inner-city parking garage. Proposals include extending or adding additional floors. Other notable projects include a seating area near the fish ladder by the Auwald housing estate and new water dispensers on Mühle Island and at Ländtor, supplementing the existing one at Stadtpark Ost.
In addition to these initiatives, Landshut is investing heavily in the construction of a new office for food, agriculture, and forestry. This five-story wooden building in the 'Green Center' is expected to be completed in 2027, with total costs exceeding 24 million euros. The high demand for real estate near Munich is also driving further investments in residential and commercial properties. Planned projects like the Watzmann 52 residential complex with 36 units are scheduled to begin in 2026.
