Landshut's high-stakes mayoral race reaches final vote this Sunday
Landshut will hold its local elections this Sunday, March 8. Voters will choose between candidates from major parties, including CSU, SPD, Freie Wähler, and Bündnis 90/Die Grünen. Polling stations will remain open from early morning until evening.
The election follows previous contests, such as the 2020 vote where SPD's Peter Forstner won 70.53% in Neufahrn. This year, ten candidates are running for Oberbürgermeister in Landshut, with strong contenders from CSU, Grüne, and SPD.
Polling stations will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. After voting ends, results will be displayed on a large screen in the New Plenary Hall. The public viewing area opens at 5:30 p.m., with access via Fleischbankgasse through Grasgasse.
Several television crews are expected to cover the event live from Landshut. Trends and updates will be shared as the votes are counted.
The election results will determine local leadership for the coming years. Voters and observers can follow the outcome in real time at the New Plenary Hall. The city has prepared for a smooth process, with clear access routes and live reporting.
