Landsmannschaft of Germans from Russia Marks 75 Years in Munich
Over 180 guests gathered to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Landsmannschaft of Germans from Russia e.V. in Munich. The event, highlighting the unity and vitality of the German-Russian community, brought together members, fellow countrymen, and guests from politics, society, and culture.
The Munich local and district group, led by Dr. Johannes Derzap since 2023, held the solemn event on September 27, 2025. It was under the patronage of Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder and honored long-standing members who have been active in the LmDR for several decades.
Erlan Mukaschew, the head of the General Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Munich, attended the event. He recalled the close historical connection between Germans from Russia and Kazakhstan. The LmDR, founded on April 22, 1950, represents the interests of Germans from Russia who were disenfranchised and expelled in the Soviet Union and later settled in Munich and surrounding areas. Dr. Bernd Fabritius, the Federal Government's Commissioner for Expellee Issues and National Minorities, emphasized the contribution of the Landsmannschaft to integration in Germany.
The 75th anniversary celebration of the Landsmannschaft of Germans from Russia e.V. in Munich was a testament to the community's resilience and unity. The event honored its members and highlighted the organization's advocacy for the right to free emigration, free exercise of religion, use of the mother tongue, integration, equal treatment, and family reunification.
