Landvolk President Welcomes Material Flow Balance Elimination, Urges Bureaucracy Reduction

Landvolk President Dr. Holger Hennies welcomes the elimination of the material flow balance requirement, calling it a long-overdue positive step. Meanwhile, he urges for reduced bureaucracy, unified regulations, and support for young farmers in Lower Saxony.

Hennies, president of Landvolk Niedersachsen, plans to lobby in Berlin for reduced regulatory burdens on farmers. He suggests eliminating redundant regulations and duplicate documentation. Hennies also calls for a unified interpretation of EU and federal laws to avoid regional inconsistencies that complicate compliance and affect supply chains. He emphasizes the need for central coordination from Berlin to streamline regulations.

Landvolk is pushing for three key issues in Berlin: reducing regulatory burdens, practical reforms in livestock farming, and actively shaping climate protection and adaptation measures. However, the European Commission's new proposal for the multiannual financial framework is worrying, as it may reduce the basic payment to offset competitive disadvantages in the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Encouraging young people to take over family farms is crucial for the future of agriculture in Lower Saxony. Federal Agriculture Minister Alois Rainer, in office for two months, has been praised for his thoughtful and matter-of-fact approach. Despite a respectful relationship, more dialogue between the ministry and farmers is needed. Minister Rainer's focus on livestock farms is beneficial for Lower Saxony, Germany's top livestock region. Diversification is key for farmers to ensure their operations remain viable in the next decade. Hennies hopes Minister Rainer will also remove other hurdles such as excessive fertilizer regulations and impractical livestock labeling rules.

Landvolk President Dr. Holger Hennies applauds the elimination of the material flow balance requirement and urges for reduced bureaucracy and support for young farmers. With Minister Rainer's focus on livestock farms and a respectful relationship, dialogue and practical reforms are key for Lower Saxony's agricultural future.
