Langenfeld braces for major Autobahn and rail construction disruptions by 2026

Langenfeld residents and businesses have received updates on upcoming road and rail construction projects. DB InfraGO, Straßen.NRW, and Autobahn GmbH have presented their plans, including closures and detours. Mayor Frank Schneider and the city's economic development department have also briefed local companies.

The presentations, held on May 15, June 4, and June 25, 2025, in cooperation with the Industry Association and IHK Düsseldorf, detailed bridge construction on the A59 and rail closures in 2025/2026. A visualization tool for road users was showcased by the State of NRW.

On May 22, 2025, representatives from Autobahn GmbH and Straßen.NRW presented to the Building and Traffic Committee about construction measures. Detailed views of closures and detours on roads L402 and L353 were provided, with larger formats available via links. The city administration has made a detailed report accessible at https://sessionnet.owl-it.de/unsere%20Webseite/bi/getfile.asp?id=82932&type=do.

The continuous closure of the S-Bahn from August 21, 2026, to December 4, 2026, is expected to impact local travel. However, no city is currently planning an S-Bahn service interruption between December 2026 and January 2027 due to these construction measures.
