Lapu-Lapu City halts classes and work for 290th Virgen de Regla Fiesta
Lapu-Lapu City will suspend classes and work on November 20, 2025, for the 290th Patronal Fiesta of Nuestra Señora de Regla. Mayor Ma. Cynthia 'Cindi' Chan, also known as Jackie Chan's sister, issued the order to ease traffic and ensure safety during the celebrations at the Virgen de Regla National Shrine.
Mayor Chan signed Executive Order No. 65 to mark the main feast day, with festivities running on November 20 and 21. The city government will operate with a skeletal workforce, keeping only essential services like hospitals and disaster response fully staffed.
The suspension allows employees and students to join the fiesta while maintaining critical services. Public schools will compensate for lost time with rescheduled lessons. Authorities expect smoother traffic flow and safer conditions during the two-day event.
