Lars Heinzl to lead Public Works and Green Spaces in 2026
Lars Heinzl has been appointed as the new head of the Public Works and Green Spaces Department. The 37-year-old was elected to the role on February 23 and will take office on July 1, 2026. Mayor Simon Blümcke praised his experience and leadership skills as key reasons for the appointment.
Heinzl currently works as city engineer in Stockach, where he manages a team of around 60 employees. His new position will see him leading a much larger team of approximately 170 staff members.
In his role, Heinzl will oversee complex infrastructure projects and represent the department in political discussions and public events. He will also be responsible for restructuring the city's construction services, designing efficient processes, and developing strategic goals for urban infrastructure.
Mayor Blümcke highlighted Heinzl's ability to consolidate and implement long-term plans. The new department head will focus on creating strong organisational structures to support the newly formed division.
Heinzl's appointment marks a shift in leadership for the city's infrastructure management. His responsibilities will include motivating staff, streamlining operations, and ensuring the department's objectives align with political and public expectations. He officially begins his duties in mid-2026.
