Late-night explosion rocks Schwarzenbruck company building near Nuremberg
Altdorf near Nuremberg (ots) A late-night explosion at a company building in Schwarzenbruck (Nuremberg district) triggered a major emergency response from police, firefighters, and paramedics in the early hours of Saturday (March 28, 2026). The blast caused extensive damage to the structure, though fortunately no one was injured.
At around 1:30 a.m., the integrated control center alerted Middle Franconia police headquarters to a fire at an industrial facility on Werner-von-Siemens-Straße. When patrol units from Altdorf Police Station arrived, the workshop was no longer ablaze, but officers discovered that two large garage doors had been torn from their tracks and lay heavily deformed in front of the property.
As firefighters began their operations, police launched initial investigations at the scene. According to their findings, an explosion of still-unknown origin had just occurred inside the workshop hall, inflicting severe structural damage. Flying debris also damaged several parked vehicles nearby.
Paramedics assessed one individual, but current investigations indicate no injuries were sustained. Preliminary estimates place the property damage in the low six-figure range.
The Middle Franconia Criminal Investigation Duty Service conducted initial forensic measures on-site. The case will now be handed over to the specialized criminal investigation unit in Schwabach, which will focus on determining the cause of the explosion.
