Public consultation for DeSH's fire safety certificate begins

In a bid to help companies in the saw and wood industry lessen risks and boost their insurance credentials, 'ProtectZert'—DeSH's innovative fire safety certificate—is now open for public consultation. Amazingly, this certificate is a foundation for industry participation in its exclusive insurance solution, currently under development in partnership with Aon, the insurance broker.

Higher premiums, policy cancellations, or reduced coverage cause many cutbacks in the saw and wood industry when it comes to fire insurance coverage. But with 'ProtectZert', these challenges might soon become a thing of the past. This certificate aims to establish verifiable standards for evaluating companies' risk profiles objectively. Here's a peek into the award criteria and accreditation regulations that include stringent requirements in organizational, structural, and equipment fire protection areas, complemented by cutting-edge tech to prevent fires.**

Join in the Consultation - Until June 30, 2025!

'ProtectZert' got tech wizards and insurance partners nodding in approval. A pilot study with the Steinbeis Foundation highlights the effectiveness of modern systems in identifying heat developments and potential fire risks in woodworking operations. The draft basis and accreditation regulations are readily available at www.zukunft-holz.de.

High Tech Fire Safety...

'ProtectZert' promises more than just steady minimum requirements. It seeks to construct an adaptable evaluation matrix, offering a point system for bonus measures. The dynamic security framework utilizes multi-stage alarms, time-sensitive thresholds, self-monitoring elements, and connections with emergency services. Moreover, the certificate aligns these measures with pertinent standards and regulations (e.g., DIN 4102, DGUV V3, ATEX, VdS guidelines) and practical know-how for updates and recertification.

For a Future-Proofed Saw and Wood Industry

Lars Schmidt, DeSH Managing Director, shared his vision for the 'ProtectZert' certificate: "Our goal is to establish 'ProtectZert' as a recognized mark for fire protection technology and insurability within the sawmill and wood industry. The certificate helps companies communicate more effectively with insurers, offers evidence for risk assessment, and promotes active, tech-driven risk management."
