At the same time, the party aims to build a broadly based team for both the city and the district of Gifhorn. "We are ready to create a fair Gifhorn for everyone," emphasizes Zecchino.

"Affordable Housing for All"

"To achieve this, we need housing that everyone can afford. It's not enough to focus primarily on single-family homes while viewing apartment buildings with skepticism. We must build more densely and diversely so that more people can find quality housing. Our city center should be a welcoming place for everyone to meet and linger—without the pressure to consume. And we stand firmly against the far right, taking a clear stance against hatred and exclusion while championing diversity in our city."

Zecchino was born and raised in Gifhorn. Like many locals, she had to leave to pursue her studies but returned to her hometown about a decade ago. She studied German literature and political science, worked for a time as an editor, and is now a full-time municipal politician. She has served on Gifhorn's city council for nearly five years.

A Team Representing the Entire District

"With our candidate, we're putting forward a voice deeply rooted in Gifhorn," adds Roman Laudien, co-chair of the Left Party. "At the same time, we've assembled a team from across the district—experienced and new local politicians, people of all ages with diverse skills. We're bringing these strengths together to work as a cohesive team."
