Lebanese community in Kuwait celebrates Independence Day with unity and cultural pride
The Lebanese Business Council in Kuwait recently hosted an 'Open Day' event for the Lebanese community. Held under the patronage of the Lebanese Embassy in Kuwait, the gathering marked the 82nd anniversary of Lebanon’s Independence Day. Attendees included local officials and members of the Lebanese diaspora.
Chairman Ali Khalil opened the event by thanking the State of Kuwait for its long-standing support of Lebanese residents. He emphasised the deep ties between the two nations, describing them as built on four key pillars. Khalil also noted Kuwait’s ongoing assistance to Lebanon during difficult periods.
Chargé d'Affaires and Consul Mia Al-Adhm addressed the crowd, expressing pride in the Lebanese community’s contributions in Kuwait. She highlighted their role in strengthening bilateral relations.
Board Member Walid Kamal Shaaban later credited the event’s success to collective effort. Khalil also remarked on the growing number of Kuwaiti tourists visiting Lebanon in recent months. He described Lebanon as a welcoming home for Kuwaitis and Kuwait as a second home for Lebanese expatriates.
The event followed Khalil’s appointment as chairman, succeeding Fadi Chehade in the role.
The celebration reinforced the close bond between Lebanon and Kuwait. It also showcased the Lebanese community’s active presence in the country. Organisers and attendees alike acknowledged the importance of continued cooperation between the two nations.
