Left Party Bergisch Gladbach Elects New Leadership After Treasurer's Resignation

The Left Party in Bergisch Gladbach has witnessed significant changes with a new treasurer and co-chairpersons elected. Marcel Scharge takes over as treasurer, replacing Klaus Reuschel-Schwitalla, while Kolja Pfeiffer and Iwona Winterscheid were elected as co-chairpersons with large majorities. The regional assembly also saw the election of deputies and a clear decision on the treasurer's position.

Tomás Santillán, a prominent figure in the party, has stepped down from his leadership roles following conflicts and disagreements over his eccentric behavior. The regional assembly did not recognize his report of accounts due to formal and content issues, leading to a vote of no confidence. Santillán has taken political responsibility for the 'financial chaos' and expects the new board to clarify the issues comprehensively. In his absence from the regional assembly, he submitted a lengthy press release instead, allowing for clear personnel decisions without lengthy debates.

The new treasurer, Marcel Scharge, was elected with a unanimous vote of 40:0. Waltraud Burghoff was elected as deputy treasurer with a vote of 23:16 against Mara Häuser. The party has also elected deputies Lea Vollmer, Conny Swillus-Knöchel, Zara Zick, Mischa Krempel, and Florian Eßer with varying vote counts.

The Left Party in Bergisch Gladbach has strengthened and rejuvenated with the election of new leaders and a clear decision on the treasurer's position. The party looks forward to addressing the financial issues and moving ahead under the guidance of the new board.
