Lena tom Dieck to Lead Aachen’s Cultural Transformation in 2026
Aachen City Council has appointed Lena tom Dieck as the new director of municipal cultural services, effective March 1, 2026. The experienced cultural manager brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having held various positions at prominent cultural institutions across Germany.
Lena tom Dieck, currently serving as managing director of the stages of the City of Cologne, will take the helm in Aachen. She has a proven track record of 15 years in cultural management, having worked at esteemed venues such as Deutsche Oper am Rhein, FFT Düsseldorf, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Hartware MedienKunstVerein, and the LWL Industrial Museum. Before her appointment, she was likely involved with Aachen's cultural operations, including the Kulturhaus Barockfabrik, Altes Kurhaus, Depot Talstraße, Nadelfabrik, and other local venues.
Councilor for Culture Heinrich Brötz praised Lena tom Dieck's professionalism and dedication, attributing the decision to her impressive credentials. Lena tom Dieck, a trained event technician with a degree in theater and media studies, expressed excitement about her new role and the challenges it presents.
