Robbery Murder in Allotment Garden: Life Sentence for 68-Year-Old in Lower Saxony - Life Sentence for Hamelin's 'Allotment Garden Murderer' After Brutal Robbery-Killing
A 68-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of a friend in Hamelin, Lower Saxony. The court found him guilty of shooting the victim in an allotment garden before stealing his wallet. The case, known locally as the Schrebergarten-Mörder von Hameln, also involved additional violent crimes.
The killing took place when the defendant lured 57-year-old Ralf W. to a garden plot in Hamelin. There, he fatally shot his friend to take his wallet. A witness later discovered the body, but the suspect evaded capture for five weeks before police arrested him.
During the trial, the man denied the murder charge. However, prosecutors presented evidence linking him to the crime. The court ultimately convicted him of murder in conjunction with robbery resulting in death. Beyond the Hamelin killing, the defendant was also found guilty of other offences. In Emmerthal, he poisoned an acquaintance, causing her severe harm, before stealing her money and jewellery. These acts led to additional convictions for aggravated robbery and grievous bodily harm.
The defendant now faces a mandatory life sentence for the robbery-murder. His conviction also covers the poisoning attack and theft in Emmerthal. No further details about additional crimes have been confirmed in available reports.
