Lithuania seeks talks with Belarus to free stranded trucks at closed borders
Hundreds of trucks from Lithuania remain stranded in Belarus following Lithuania's unilateral border closure. Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė plans to negotiate with Belarusian authorities to resolve the issue and allow the trucks to return. The trucks have been stuck since Lithuania fully closed its borders with Belarus at the end of October 2025. Lithuanian authorities have not specified a counterpart for the negotiations but will handle the issue directly with Belarusian authorities. The Lithuanian government is seeking an agreement to permit the trucks' return. The stranded trucks are a significant concern for Lithuania, as they represent a crucial part of the country's logistics and trade. The Lithuanian Prime Minister's planned negotiations with Belarus aim to resolve this issue promptly and facilitate the trucks' safe return.
