Lithuania Urges Stronger NATO-EU Ties at Berlin Security Conference
Lithuania’s senior representative Jurgis Baltrėnas spoke at the Berlin Security Conference on 18-19 November. He joined a panel titled The Transatlantic Bond and stressed the need for closer NATO-EU cooperation. The event, held at Vienna House Andel’s Berlin, gathered officials from NATO, the EU, and multiple countries for security discussions.
Baltrėnas outlined three key conditions for a strong transatlantic partnership. These included steady US commitment, a more robust European role within NATO, and an expanded defence industry in Europe. He also thanked Germany for its efforts in boosting NATO’s military capabilities.
The Berlin Security Conference has been held annually since 2001, bringing together leaders from European and non-European states. This year’s discussions focused on strengthening defence ties and adapting to new security challenges. Baltrėnas’ remarks underscored the need for unity, innovation, and shared learning between NATO and its partners.
