Local charity celebrates 50 years of delivering meals to elderly residents

A local charity is marking half a century of delivering meals to elderly residents. Help for Senior Citizens, founded in 1970, began its meal service in January 1974. The association now serves thousands of meals each year while keeping costs affordable for its customers.

The charity started with just 3,600 marks in funding. On January 14, 1974, it delivered its first meals to elderly people in Neu-Isenburg and the surrounding areas. Since then, the service has grown steadily, now providing between 43,000 and 47,000 meals annually.

The association’s 50th anniversary highlights its ongoing role in the community. It continues to provide essential meal services while fostering social connections for elderly residents. The charity’s work remains funded by memberships, donations, and volunteer support.
