Lörrach District Honors Volunteers for Strengthening Community Bonds

The Lörrach district recently hosted its Volunteer Appreciation Day under the theme Strength in Community—Side by Side for You and Me. The main event celebrated local volunteers and their contributions to social cohesion. Live music from the accordion ensemble Collage added a festive touch to the ceremony.

District Administrator Marion Dammann and Deputy Head Cornelia Wülbeck presented awards to eight initiatives for their outstanding work. The honoured projects ranged from family support and cultural engagement to care for older adults. Among the winners was the Lörrach-based I Am Like You cooperative, recognised for its inclusive work with children from diverse backgrounds. The project’s team includes Nanna Heitmann from Siberia, Kate Holt from Kenya/Somalia, David Sutta Photography from Myanmar, and Daniela Pineda from Colombia.

The event closed with a celebration of the volunteers’ dedication across various fields. Their work continues to support families, promote culture, and assist older residents in the Lörrach district. The awards underscored the impact of collective effort in building a stronger, more connected community.
