Lörrach's Village Treasures Initiative Launches to Revitalize Rural Culture
A new civic engagement initiative called Village Treasures has launched in the Lörrach district. Announced on March 26, 2026, the project aims to boost cultural diversity and volunteerism across rural communities. Funding and support are now available for local cultural projects through a dedicated Small Projects Fund. The initiative is part of the federal Aller.Land programme, with a long-term goal: involving every town and municipality in the district by 2030. To encourage participation, an annual budget of €10,000 has been set aside for local cultural efforts. Individual projects can receive up to €2,000 in funding.
Applications for 2026 are open until June 30. Beyond financial support, the scheme includes local dialogue formats to help residents develop concrete cultural ideas. The *Theater in den Bergen* association is among the groups backing the district's push. A central website now provides details on funding, participatory programmes, and ongoing projects. An Instagram channel has also launched to highlight events and success stories from the region.
The Village Treasures initiative offers funding, resources, and a platform for rural cultural projects. With applications open until the end of June, local groups and volunteers can submit proposals for support. The district plans to expand participation steadily over the next four years.
