Lower Bavaria’s students reimagine Europe’s future at 2024 awards

Lower Bavaria’s brightest young minds were celebrated at the Kumhausen Community Center this week. The 2024 European Student Competition saw eleven schools from the region receive awards for their creative visions of Europe’s future. The event recognised both national and regional winners in front of local officials and educators.

The competition, themed 'Europe (Un)limited', challenged students to explore the idea of borders and imagine the continent’s next chapter. Schools submitted projects that ranged from artistic interpretations to policy proposals, all centred on unity and cooperation.

At the ceremony, Regional President Rainer Haselbeck stressed the role of young people in shaping Europe’s path. He commended the winners for their innovation and dedication. Among the honoured institutions, two schools from Landshut stood out, including the Marie Curie Gymnasium, which secured a prize for its contribution.

District Assembly President Dr. Olaf Heinrich also spoke, underscoring the importance of a united Europe. He called on the next generation to actively support and develop the ideals that bind the continent together. The awards highlighted not just academic skill but a shared commitment to Europe’s future.

The winning schools from across Lower Bavaria took home recognition for their hard work and forward-thinking ideas. Their projects will now serve as inspiration for future competitions. Officials hope the initiative will encourage even more students to engage with Europe’s challenges and opportunities.
