Lower Saxony Boosts Broadband Expansion with €70M for 26,000 Households
The Lower Saxony state government has boosted broadband expansion plans, allocating an extra €70 million. Minister of Digital Affairs Daniela Behrens announced the funding increase, aiming to enhance digital participation across the region.
The additional funds, drawn from the special fund for digitalization, will accelerate internet infrastructure development. Minister Behrens stressed that the initiative is focused on ensuring all residents have access to modern internet and telephone services.
The enhanced broadband expansion in Lower Saxony is set to commence in January 2025, with construction starting in summer 2025. The project aims to bring fiber optic connections directly to towns, benefiting over 26,000 households by spring 2025.
