State Chancellor Chief Draws Positive Balance from Israel Trip - Lower Saxony delegation explores economic and scientific ties in Israel

A delegation from Lower Saxony recently completed a multi-day visit to Israel to strengthen ties in economics and science. Led by Frank Doods, chief of the Lower Saxony State Chancellery, the group explored partnerships in key industries while engaging with Israeli institutions and political leaders.

The trip included stops in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Be'er Sheva, and Sderot. Around 12 representatives from Lower Saxony's economy and science sectors joined, focusing on fields like mobility, cybersecurity, energy, robotics, and defence.

Meetings at the Peres Center for Peace and Innovation and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev centred on innovation and research collaboration. Discussions with technology companies also revealed strong potential for joint projects in the same sectors. Doods visited Yad Vashem, where he stressed the importance of Holocaust remembrance and combating antisemitism. The delegation further held talks in the Knesset and with Palestinian organisations, addressing the lasting effects of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack on Israeli society.

The visit highlighted opportunities for deeper cooperation between Lower Saxony and Israel. Doods noted significant potential in shared economic and scientific ventures, while the trip also underscored ongoing political and social challenges in the region.
