LPG Shortages Hit Almaty and Turkestan Regions Despite Ministry Assurances
Residents of Almaty and Turkestan regions have reported shortages of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for vehicles, despite the Ministry of Energy's assurance of no overall shortage. Temporary disruptions at gas stations have been experienced due to the depletion of October's allocated fuel volumes.
The Almaty Region has been allocated 6,728 tons of LPG for November, with a current reserve of 1,214 tons to cover daily demand. The Turkestan Region has received 11,774 tons, with an additional 1,594 tons in transit. The reduction in domestic production during planned maintenance at the Atyrau Refinery caused the exhaustion of October's gas quotas, leading to temporary suspensions at some gas stations.
The distribution of LPG among gas stations is managed by an operational task force under the regional governor's office. The Almaty city administration has denied any LPG shortages in the city, attributing temporary suspensions to refueling or replenishing storage tanks. However, social media users have shared videos claiming that gas stations were closed and no fuel was available.
While the Ministry of Energy maintains there is no overall LPG shortage, residents in Almaty and Turkestan regions have faced temporary disruptions at gas stations. The regional governor's office is managing LPG distribution, and the Almaty city administration denies any shortages. Residents are advised to check with local authorities or online portals for updated information on LPG availability at gas stations near them.
