Lufthansa Cargo Announces Executive Board Changes

Lufthansa Cargo AG, a leading provider in the global air cargo business, has announced significant changes to its executive board, effective July 1, 2025.

Frank Bauer, a seasoned executive with extensive experience within the Lufthansa Group, will assume the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Lufthansa Cargo. Bauer, who joined Lufthansa Cargo in 2007, has held various roles, including finance and personnel director, CEO of Eurowings, and internal audit. He will also take on the positions of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) until June 30, 2025, before transitioning to his new operational role. Bauer brings long-standing experience and technical expertise to his new position, having previously held senior management roles at Eurowings.

Gregor Schleussner, who started his career at Lufthansa in 2006 as part of the ProTeam trainee program, will become the new CFO and CHRO at Lufthansa Cargo. Schleussner is currently head of finance, controlling, and accounting at Eurowings. His roles at Lufthansa have included positions in product management, investor relations, corporate controlling, and work in the CEO's office of the Lufthansa Group. In his new role, Schleussner will be responsible for finance, personnel, legal, corporate policy, information management, and infrastructure at Lufthansa Cargo.

Dr. Michael Niggemann, Supervisory board chairman, emphasized the importance of these appointments for the further development of the company. 'With Frank Bauer and Gregor Schleussner, we are strategically well-positioned to react flexibly and decisively to the challenges and developments in the air cargo industry,' said Niggemann.

The air cargo industry is in transition, with digital transformation, sustainable logistics solutions, and geopolitical challenges posing high demands on the executive level. Lufthansa Cargo aims to remain a leading provider in this dynamic environment, and the appointments of Bauer and Schleussner are seen as crucial to achieving this goal.

Outside of the office, Frank Bauer and Gregor Schleussner are well-networked, technically and economically savvy, and bring the necessary finesse to tackle the challenges of an international logistics company. Dominik Lelle, a member of the online editorial team at AERO INTERNATIONAL since 2023, shares this passion for aviation. Lelle, who is also a passionate traveler, always looks forward to discovering new horizons, and his work aims to make the world of aviation tangible and exciting for readers.

As of July 1, 2025, Ashwin Bhat will take over as CEO of Lufthansa Cargo AG. The executive board changes come at a crucial time for the company, as it navigates the complexities of the global air cargo industry. With Bauer and Schleussner on board, Lufthansa Cargo is well-prepared to meet these challenges head-on.
