Lufthansa's Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof to Step Down; Max Kownatzki Rumored Successor
Lufthansa Group has announced that Jens Bischof, the current CEO of Eurowings, will step down at the end of the year. Bischof will leave the company on his 60th birthday, as previously planned. The successor has not been named yet, but an announcement is expected later.
Max Kownatzki, the current CEO of SunExpress, is rumoured to be the front runner for the position. Carsten Spohr, the chief executive of Lufthansa Group, has not officially confirmed this, stating that an announcement will be made at a later date. Bischof has led Eurowings since 2013 and has overseen its transformation into a point-to-point airline. Kownatzki, if appointed, will take over the reins from Bischof at the end of 2025.
Eurowings will bid farewell to Jens Bischof at the end of the year. While the successor has not been officially announced, Max Kownatzki of SunExpress is reportedly in line to take over. The transition is expected to take place at the end of 2025.
