Lünen unveils major urban plans in latest Municipal Gazette
The latest edition of the Lünen Municipal Gazette (Issue No. 10/2026) was released on Thursday, March 12, 2026. The publication features several key planning announcements, including new development projects and regulatory changes for the city. Residents can access the gazette both in print and online at no cost.
Among the major announcements, the gazette introduces Development Plan No. 245 ('Brechtener Straße-Ost') and Development Plan No. 246 ('Kupferstraße-Süd'). It also initiates adoption proceedings for Development Plan No. 250 ('Jägerstraße/Bebelstraße'), marking the start of formal reviews for this area. Additionally, the revocation of Development Plan No. 11 ('Buchenberg') has been officially declared.
A separate notice outlines a general administrative order under Section 6(1) of the North Rhine-Westphalia Roads and Paths Act. This order affects traffic areas along Alter Kirchweg in the Altlünen district, specifically parcel 15, covering plots 390, 651, and 1864. The gazette further includes the 28th Amendment to the Lünen Land Use Plan, also focused on 'Brechtener Straße-Ost'.
Printed copies of the gazette are available from the information desk in the City Hall foyer (Willy-Brandt-Platz 1). The digital version can be accessed via the city's official website.
Over the past five years (2021–2026), Lünen's land-use planning has shifted toward higher-density development and the conversion of commercial zones into residential areas. Key sites such as Im Gort 5–15, Südwall, and An der Zechenbahn saw roughly 12 hectares rezoned under amendments like FNP 41/20 and FNP 42/21 (approved between 2021–2023). This contrasts with earlier changes (2016–2020), which primarily expanded industrial zones, as seen in FNP 38/17.
The new gazette provides residents and stakeholders with updates on Lünen's evolving urban planning. The announced development plans, traffic regulations, and land-use amendments will guide future construction and infrastructure adjustments in the city. Copies remain free to collect or view online for those seeking further details.
