Lünen’s parents gain a stronger voice in state daycare policy
Lünen's daycare centers will have a strong voice in the State Parents' Council in Düsseldorf. Kristin Affeld, the new chair of the Youth Welfare Office Parents’ Council (JAEB), has been selected as a delegate. She will represent the interests of Lünen's parents in daycare and youth welfare matters.
The JAEB, which was established in Lünen in 2012, has the right to speak in the Youth Welfare Committee. It independently decides on its meetings and topics, ensuring parents' voices are heard. The option for such a parental advocacy body has existed since 2011 under the Child Education Act (KiBiz).
The JAEB represents all parents in dealings with daycare providers and the Youth Welfare Office. Recently, parents from 26 of Lünen’s 46 daycare centers elected a new JAEB for the next two years. Kristin Affeld, from the municipal Viktoria Daycare Center, was chosen as the new chair, while Alina Piwellek, of the German Red Cross (DRK) Seeparkzwerge Daycare, was elected deputy chair.
With Kristin Affeld's election as a delegate, Lünen's parents' voices will reach the State Parents' Council in Düsseldorf. The JAEB's ongoing representation and independent decision-making ensure that parents' interests remain a priority in Lünen's daycare and youth welfare services.
