Luxury furs and hidden drugs found in Ukrainian van at Berlin checkpoint
Customs officers in Berlin have seized 13 luxury fur coats and jackets during a routine traffic stop. The discovery came after inspecting a Ukrainian-registered van carrying eight passengers. Authorities are now investigating potential tax evasion and violations of pharmaceutical laws.
The incident began when a van with Ukrainian licence plates was pulled over for a standard check. Inside, officers found numerous boxes, bags, and sacks—far more than the declared duty-free goods. A deeper search uncovered 13 high-end fur items, along with assorted medications, including two bags hidden under the spare tyre.
The case remains under investigation, with multiple legal angles still unresolved. If the furs or medications are found to violate regulations, additional charges could follow. The driver’s identity has not been publicly disclosed.
