Madhya Pradesh's Health Recruitment Lagging, Thousands of Posts Vacant
In Madhya Pradesh, the health department's recruitment process has been delayed, leaving thousands of posts vacant. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav recently held a meeting to address this issue, expressing concern about the slow progress.
The cabinet approved the creation of 46,491 posts in June 2023. Out of these, 18,653 are regular posts to be filled in three years, with half the time already passed and slow progress made. Additionally, 27,838 posts were to be filled with contractual and outsourced staff through the National Health Mission, but there's been no progress yet. For medical experts, 1,214 posts were to be filled, with half through direct appointments and the rest through the Public Service Commission, but no progress has been made here either.
The Staff Selection Board conducted an examination for 7,000 posts, but the recruitment proposal is still pending. Anurag Jain, the Chief Secretary, expressed unhappiness about the health department's delay in starting the recruitment process. Yadav directed Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla and Jain to find a solution to the issue. Despite the meeting, the recruitment process for most of the approved posts has not started after one and a half years.
The delay in filling vacant posts in the Madhya Pradesh health department is a pressing issue. With thousands of posts still unfilled, the state's health services may face strain. The government is urged to expedite the recruitment process to ensure adequate staffing in the health sector.
