Magadan approves 2026 budget and expands family social support measures
The Magadan Regional Duma held its third session on November 21, 2025, adopting key legislation and approving the 2026 budget. Governor Sergei Nosov attended alongside ministers, agency heads, and participants from military support programmes. Among the decisions, the session honoured a fallen soldier and introduced new social measures for families.
During the session, seven regional laws were passed, with three more receiving first-reading approval. Eight resolutions were also adopted, covering legislative updates and regional development plans. One of the most notable changes included amendments to the maternal (family) capital programme, reducing processing times for applications and expanding support for large families.
The session’s outcomes will bring financial and administrative changes to the region, with a focus on social support and infrastructure. The budget’s 1.6% deficit reflects planned spending on wages, utilities, and child welfare programmes. The honouring of Ivan Kabanov marks a formal recognition of his service to the region.
