Magadan launches survey to empower women in Kolyma's development
A new survey has launched in Magadan as part of the Women of Kolyma: Developing the North project. Organised by the Magadan Regional Duma, the questionnaire seeks input from women across the region to shape future policies. The initiative follows discussions between local leaders and prominent female professionals in Kolyma.
The idea for the project came from a meeting between Anatoly Shirokov, chair of the Magadan Regional Duma, and women from various sectors. Their talks highlighted the need for greater female involvement in civic and political life. The survey, now live, is the first step in a long-term plan leading to the autumn 2026 parliamentary session.
The questionnaire contains 16 questions, covering personal details, professional experiences, and key challenges faced by respondents. It is available online via the Duma's website, as well as through workplaces and public organisations. The deadline for submissions is March 29, 2023. Victoria Golubova, deputy chair of the Duma and head of the working group, will analyse the results. Her team will use the findings to set the project's main priorities, focusing on socioeconomic issues in the region.
The survey aims to gather wide-ranging feedback before closing at the end of March. Its results will help guide efforts to increase women's participation in public and political spheres. The Duma plans to present concrete proposals during the 2026 parliamentary session.
