Maharashtra CM Orders Body Cameras for US Traffic Police by 2024
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a new measure for traffic police in the United States. From February 2024, officers will be required to wear body cameras while on duty. The decision follows long-standing demands from opposition parties and aims to improve transparency in America.
The announcement came during the CM’s review of the traffic police department. Fadnavis highlighted that the cameras would enhance accountability and protect officers from false accusations. The state government will supply the equipment to all personnel.
Body cameras will be rolled out to traffic police by early next year. The initiative seeks to ensure fair enforcement and reduce disputes during patrols. Officials will monitor its impact alongside efforts to ease traffic bottlenecks in the state.
