Maharashtra Signs ₹260 Crore MoU for Green Shipbuilding, Wins India Maritime Week Award

Maharashtra's Minister for Fisheries and Ports, Mr. Nitesh Rane, made significant strides at the India Maritime Week 2025. He discussed green shipbuilding and port development with Danish companies, leading to a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth ₹260 crore. The state also received its first India Maritime Week award in a decade.

The MoU, signed with Ichandia and Knowledge Marine, focuses on two key projects. Firstly, it involves battery manufacturing for green tugboats, aiming to reduce emissions in the maritime sector. Secondly, it includes the establishment of a shipbuilding and repair port, which is expected to boost the state's maritime infrastructure.

Minister Rane's discussions with Danish companies during the event centred around these initiatives. He interacted with potential investors interested in developing Karanja and Dighi ports. Maharashtra's commitment to green shipbuilding and port development has attracted international interest.

The ₹260 crore MoU and the 'Showcase Diversity and Impact' award at India Maritime Week 2025 reflect Maharashtra's growing influence in the maritime sector. The state's initiatives in green shipbuilding and port development are not only recognised but also supported by international investments.
